The Pena Palace is Sintra’s colorful icon: romantic architecture, bold colors and sweeping views over the Serra. It’s a must while staying at Quinta do Griffo.
How to get there
From Griffo, drive about 15 minutes to Sintra, then follow signs to Pena. Prefer not to park uphill? Leave the car near Galamres and take the tram to Sintra old town, then the shuttle up to the palace. Fit walkers can hike from town (allow 45–60 min uphill).
Good to know
- Buy timed tickets online; mornings are quieter and clearer.
- Allow 2–3 hours including the romantic park.
- Fog happens—check weather and carry a light layer.
Griffo tip: Pause in the old town for coffee and travesseiros before heading up—best energy boost for the climb.
